Film Opener Mood Board Blog Post

Image
My Mood board represents the main aspects of our opener, the schizophrenia, the setting of a therapy room, the light clothes to represent good, and the darker clothes to represent more evil. the lighting to show how over the course of our opener, the lighting will slowly become more darker, as well as the schizophrenic man's clothes, to represent his mind becoming more darker as time goes on.

Final Project Idea

Illusion of Choices is the name we chose for the movie, It's a psychological thriller about a man turned schizophrenic -due to a car crash that killed his best friend- to his therapist. he talks to the therapist about the accident and its effects, and then we see the man's best friend come back as an illusion convincing him to kill the therapist. The man is conflicted with this choice of killing the therapist, even though in reality he isn't being forced to do it. I am excited to film and edit  these scenes and figure out how we will put it all together. I'm worried about if we can execute these shots well.

Members: Fahad Ulbari, Sebastian Perez, Emir Palo and me (Adam Molnar) Our movie is going to be about a schizophrenic patient, his imaginary friend, and his doctor, and how he is forced to make a choice that could change his life forever. Sebastian is playing the patient, we chose him as this role as he can easily produce  a wide array of emotions quickly, which is perfect or the role. Emir is the doctor since he is very calm and collected, and Fahad is the imaginary friend as he also can produce emotions well. I am the cameraman since I'm good at capturing angles and shooting.

For todays assignment, I chose the genre comedy, with its themes of humor and lightheartedness. My thought process for the poster is to showcase some well known comedians, who are known to make audiences laugh, as well as some stages where people preform comedy, and a person laughing. The speech bubbles are there to communicate how comedy is communicated, through speech usually.  Through speech in movies, is how comedy and humor is usually shown in different medias.  I also chose the color yellow since the color is commonly associated with comedy. Another method of comedy that many comedians and movies alike use is visual gags, where through action, with the inclusion of some minor sound effects, create a funny joke. I chose those themes since I believe at heart, all comedy is truly just there to bring lightheartedness and humor to the mix, people never go to comedy movies for suspense, or action, they go there for the fun, the silliness, and the overall tone and humor ...

Sound Project Blog Post

Sound or the lack of sound is very important to a scene in a film because it makes up the ambience and the atmosphere. Sound or the lack of sound can bring different emotions and impact to the scenes, without it, it would be very hard to create something like suspense or build up. It was not that difficult to come up with sound ideas for a story without visuals because sound can still bring emotion, even without any visual aid, such as audiobooks. It was just making up a story, then removing the visuals and just keeping the sounds. I believe my group was able to create a sound story that the audience could understand because I believe it was very coherent. It was pretty understandable to follow and I think there was a intelligible plot to the audio story as well.

Camera Shot Comments Blog Post

I commented on Hannah's camera angles and Cayden's camera angles. On Hannah's I commented on all the shots she showed overall, I mentioned that she captured the shots amazingly, such as the low angle shot, which I compared to something out of a movie. These shots convey the feelings that they should: The tilted angle, along with the expression of the person, give the feeling of insanity, the long shot showing the subject and the background clearly, and the low angle giving a feeling of intimidation. On Cayden's post I mostly talked about the contrast between the two images used, comparing that in the POV, it makes you feel like you are in the moment, as well as noting how tall he is, compared to the wide shot, which makes him feel much smaller compared to the previous image. Both these people conveyed the emotions that you should feel with these images, they did an amazing job!
